How to keep your horse from escaping & death

Your horse is a prized possession, a symbol that your superior , apart of your family, and the ride of your life.
You may have experienced loss of a horse or would like to know how to keep a horse safe but this short guide will help you make sure your horse will never die or be lost again.

Basics:

1. Surround the horse in a 1.5 or higher block 4 sided wall
2. Use Precious stones on the horse pen area so others can't place lava or fire next to your horse
3. Use /cprivate on the doors or gates so only people you allow can open the gate
4. Put a saddle on your horse so it cannot be stolen
5. Make sure your horse cannot walk out of its pen and especially not walk into the nether portal, and that other players cannot destroy your walls or place a block that gives your horse an escape route, or damage your horse.

Leads can be easily stolen so they are not advised as horse protection.

Some more points are:

6. Water, Get off your horse and use a lead to swim it across any body of water more than 2 blocks deep.
7. Open Caves, Ravines, Sink holes, Keep a sharp eye out for these when riding, they can appear suddenly, especially on a Fast horse.
8. Horse food, Carry some in case of serious injury to your horse. Different types I have listed below

Claiming Ownership of a Horse with a Saddle:

You have to put the saddle on a horse by putting the saddle in your hand, then clicking on the horse if the horse had been tamed by another player.
To check that you own the horse, you can hop on the horse and hop off again, then if you can hop on again with the saddle on, the horse is yours.

The other player will get a: "This animal is not yours" when they click on your horse.

Do not hop on the horse then use E to put the saddle on unless the horse is originally tamed by you as the horse will be locked if you try to jump on it again.

Saddle Protection Notes:

The only way to kill your horse when it has a saddle on by another player is to place lava or fire cactus or drown it or drop lots and lots of sand at the same time or anvil hell or TNT.

Remember to Saddle your horse to prevent people from punching down your horse, but also remember to keep your horse in a safe stable with Precious Stone Protection so people cannot place lava, fire , water , sand , cactus , gravel , anvil , TNT on your horse to troll you as we cannot replace your horse exactly when it dies.

A good Idea is to use /cprivate to lock your stable doors so people cannot free your horse from your stable causing the horse to become lost.

Thought I will add some facts for people

• When breeding horses, keep horses in a fenced area away from solid block walls (solid blocks for floor are fine, just not walls) to prevent foals from suffocating
• Foals should be kept away from all solid blocks until it is an adult as they glitch into the walls and will die.
  
• Feeding foals wheat will make them grow faster, hay bales and apples can also be used to speed up growth. it takes 20 wheat to make a foal an adult.
• Do not tie your horse with leads if you plan to leave the chunk or disconnect. When the chunk unloads the lead breaks and you will lose your horse.
• Need to move your horse over water? Use a boat and lead, first put the lead on the horse, then hop in the boat. The horse can keep up with the boat, if the lead breaks make sure to get out of the boat first to put the lead back on (boats break if you try to put the lead on the horse while in the boat)

How to Warp Horses:

Currently there is a bug with warping horses to places where no players are since the chunk will not be loaded before you warp your horse causing the horse to de-spawn and be removed from Minecraft memory probably because the horse and chunk will be loaded in the wrong order and your horse will become a memory leak so that you might see void and will have to Disconnect to be unstuck.

So how can we fix this?

Simple!

1. Create a warp to the place you want to move your horse
2. Have someone stand at your warp
3. Jump on your horse with a saddle
4. Warp to the place where your friend is standing
5. Success!

Note: This method is not foolproof. There may be a slight 2% chance that this will fail due to some random error like your warp being right between 2 chunks and your friend couldn't load the chunk properly or the server suddenly lags because someone is doing a massive world edit, or your friend suddenly gets afk kicked / goes home / jailed / banned causing the chunk to be unloaded.

Also keep in mind that warping with your horse is not recommended, and we will not replace horses for people trying to do this.

Another note, if you warp on a horse and you find you are falling through the world on the horse, disconnect and reconnect, this should prevent your horse from disappearing and you will load as normal on the horse when you relog.

Do not try to warp away when on a horse and falling through the world as you will lose the horse.
