CraftBook Sorting System
View an in-game example with /to craftbook-example
We have a custom fork of CraftBook to improve the functionality of it's Collect/Deposit mechanic. To use this mechanic you must be Settler rank (second free rank). The purpose of this mechanic is to not only provide easier creation of item sorting systems, but to be performance friendly on the server (due to removing the need of Hoppers).
How do they work:
Basic:
The basic setup of this mechanic requires the following items:
Rail
Sign
Chest
Iron Ore
Chest Minecart
This is the most basic placement of these items:
The items needed for an item sorting system.
[Deposit] Sign
This sign will deposit the contents of a chest into a chest minecart for sorting. Place any sign on an iron ore opposite a chest, and on the second line of the sign write [Deposit]
Once you've created the sign, you will receive a message in chat confirming that you have created the depoist mechanic!

[Collect] Sign
To collect the contents of a chest minecart into a defined chest, place any sign on an iron ore opposite a chest, and on the second line of the sign write [Collect]
Once you've created the sign, you will receive a message in chat confirming that you have created the collect mechanic!

Advanced:
Collect/Deposit signs can determine the contents of the chests and chest minecarts allowing for designation of specific items to be transferred. This is an incredibly useful tool for builds like auto sorters and mob farms.
Specified [Deposit] Sign:
Assigning items to the [Deposit] sign will result in the chest minecart only removing the specified items from the designated chest.
To apply items to the sign, hold the item you wish to be added in your main hand, and crouch + right click the [Deposit] sign. You will receive a confirmation message in chat.

Adding an item to the [Deposit] sign
To remove items that have been added to the sign you can crouch + rightclick the sign with the item again, or crouch + left click the sign to display all current items added to it in the chat, then click remove in chat on the item you wish to remove from the mechanic.

Crouch + left click to view all the contents of a [Deposit] sign, and optionally remove some.
Specified [Collect] Sign:
Assigning items to the [Collect] sign will result in the designated chest only taking the specified items from the chest minecart. A [Collect] sign that has no items defined will collect all of the contents in the chest minecart that can possibly be stored in the collect chest.
To apply items to the sign, hold the item you wish to be added in your main hand, and crouch + right click the [Collect] sign. You will receive a confirmation message in chat.

Adding an item to the [Collect] sign
As with the [Deposit] sign, if you wish to remove items that have been added to the [Collect] sign you can crouch + rightclick the sign with the item again, or crouch + left click the sign to display all current items added to it in the chat, then click remove in chat on the item you wish to remove from the mechanic.
You can add as many items as you wish to a [Collect] and/or [Deposit] sign as crouch + left clicking the sign will show paginated list of all of the items.

Warning
If a chest minecart is full and attempts to pick up items from a [Deposit] sign, all items in that deposit chest will be deleted as the system cannot move it properly. This is why it is recommended to use a SINGLE CHEST for your [Deposit] chest to avoid over filling the chest minecart.
The bonus of this is you can use it as an incredibly simple and efficient deletion system.
