Our forums were "hacked" today (if you can call it that) along with other websites that use the same software as us.
We've worked out that the information they managed to get from our database is very minimal. Your forums passwords have not been compromised, there is NO link to your Mojang account from the forums so there is no threat to your Minecraft accounts.
BUT, as a precaution, please change your password on any site that you use the same password as our forums. It's good security practice anyway!
All in all, this attack was a pretty big waste of time, and we're resuming normal transmission with no cause for alarm.
