Disguise to hide from mobs, yay or nay?

Should /d hide you from hostile mobs?

Hey folks,
As most of you probably know, in 1.8 using the disguise command stopped hostile mobs from being able to 'see' you. Since 1.9 started the /d command hasn't hidden you from hostile mobs, after a couple complaints this has been changed but we'd like to know what the general consensus is.
Some players feel that the 1.9 server has been more orientated at challenging the players and as such the /d command hiding you from mobs has been described as 'cheaty' by some, believing that /d should be a purely vanity based command. On the other hand, some people believe that since /d is a command for paid ranks, having the ability to hide from mobs is merited (it's worth noting, in the rank descriptions it says "/d - Disguise as any mob" not "Disguise from mobs").
What do you think? Leave a vote on the poll, if you want to elaborate then leave a response.

As a builder, almost nothing was more helpful than the ability to become a slime and be able to do things in peace. I also think that it loses the bulk of its value if the function isn't there. Almost the whole game is played in first-person, so you won't even see yourself. Any time where the mob disguise would be of use is if you're encountering another player and specifically want to be disguised from them during that one scenario.
Without the ability to use it against mobs, it becomes an almost superficial addition, and wouldn't have any impact if it were removed completely.
