The time is here for a (long awaited) new map, and I couldn't be more excited. If you've missed recent Minecraft updates, Mojang have added quite a lot since our last new map which you can check out below:
- The Armored Paws game drop. This adds the Armadillo, new Wolves and new items.
- The Tricky Trials major update. This adds a whole bunch of stuff! World generation (the trial chambers), the Breeze mob, plenty of new blocks and new items - it really is a big update!
- The Bundles of Bravery game drop. This adds (you guessed it) the Bundles item.
- The Garden Awakens game drop. This adds new blocks (pale wood!!!), a new biome, and a creepily creaky new mob.
Let's jump right on in!
Map Details
- Server version: 1.21.4.
It is recommended you use this version. While we do support older clients, I cannot guarantee stability if you use an old client. - Survival size: 40,000 Blocks Wide (20k in each direction)
- Nether size: 15,000 Blocks Wide (7.5k in each direction)
- The End size: 10,000 Blocks Wide (5k in each direction)
- Server Difficulty: Hard
- Online Maps: As our standard practice to be fair to all players, online maps will be live in a few days.
Expansion & Regen Dates
- The End will first be regenerated in 6 weeks (Friday, 21st March).
- The Nether's world border will first be expanded in 8 weeks (Friday, 4th April) with a 5k block increase (2.5k in each direction).
- Due to the current 1.21.5 Snapshots, we will expect to see a new Minecraft version early on in this new map, in which we'll expand the Overworld's world border with a 10k block increase (5k in each direction).
Minecraft -> Discord Account Linking
We have a new system in place for linking your Minecraft -> Discord account. The only information we store is your public Discord user ID and Minecraft UUID. This allows us to sync some things between Minecraft and Discord, such as your username and ranks. The only downside is if you had previously linked your account to access all of Discord, you will need to do this again.
How to link your account
- Join Survival and type
/link
to obtain a code. - Click the code supplied to copy it (it will copy the entire command).
- Navigate to #link-account on Discord and type
/link
to bring up the command suggestion. - Click it, paste in your code and hit enter.
- Your account will now be linked to Survival!
To note: Clicking to copy in-game will copy the entire command. For it to work you need to type /link
first for the command to appear. There is a GIF in the channel showing you how to use it, if you get stuck just give me a yell.
New Hub
We've updated our Hub to give everyone more room to walk around (the old Hub was lovely but it did get a bit crowded). Our new Hub features two much longer Parkours that I really suck at, but see if you can beat my score on the Hard Parkour!
Rank System
Our free in-game rank system has been worked on to improve the gameplay aspect of grinding rank points. While these adjustments to the system are new, they will certainly need tweaks over the next few weeks. I plan to get really specific with formula adjusting it to take much more into consideration, such as the hardness of different blocks when calculating the Block Breaking tasks.
Thankfully it already feels a lot more balanced and fair for everyone, but we will continue to improve on it with your feedback!
Transfer Vault
Legacy Survival will be offline for the first few days of the new Survival map. There will be an announcement in Discord when it is online again and you'll be able to join it to use the Transfer Vault to transfer your cosmetics from that map to the new map.
How to use the Transfer Vault
- Use
/vault
to open your vault and fill it with items. - Once it's full or you're finished, use
/vault transfer
(you will have to use it twice to confirm). - Your items will be on their way to the new map!
Due to some cosmetic items being the likes of god tools and weapons, vaults stay locked for the first two weeks of the new map to be fair for other new and existing players.
I am currently working on the Transfer Vault to implement a system where you will be able to take out purely cosmetic items such as Hats, Mob Heads, and other cosmetics that aren't tools and weapons straight away. Unfortunately this isn't ready yet, though!
Spawners
We've rewritten our Spawners plugin to closer align with Vanilla gameplay and fix a lot of issues the previous system had:
- Instead of lobotomising all mobs from spawners, from now on only mobs from placed spawners or spawners inside claims will become lobotomised. If you're caving and come across a spawner the mobs will be active.
- We've fixed issues surrounding being unable to pick up a spawner after placing it with
/spawners pickup.
- We increased the time to use the above command to 5 minutes to give you more wiggle room when building grinders.
- As it's always been, spawners will not drop if you break them with in the wild. You can obtain them from the Tier Crate or the Market.
Tomes
We've rewritten our Tomes system! This desperately needed to happen to improve on the old system and support Minecraft's latest changes.
This does bring some new tomes too:
- Bundled Tomes: These are a single Statistic Tome that houses multiple statistics to be applied to items. For example, the one Tome may have the 'Mobs Killed' and 'Damage Dealt' statistics on it.
- Distance Flown with Riptide: This will track how far you've travelled.
- Fireworks Shot: How many times fireworks were shot from a crossbow.
- Gradient Name Tomes: These tomes have different preset gradients that you can apply to your items that will change their name colour!
- Mobs Impaled: How many mobs hit with a trident.
- Mobs Struck: How many mobs you've summoned lightning on with a trident enchanted with 'Channelling'.
- Statistic Transfer Tome: This allows you to copy all of the statistics on an existing item and transfer them to a new item. Only statistics that are counted on the new item will be applied. For example, you won't be able to transfer an 'Arrows Shot' statistic to a Sword.
- Times Repaired: How many times an item has been repaired.
- Trash Found: How much trash your fishing rod has picked up.
- Treasure Found: How much treasure your fishing rod has picked up.
Currently these new tomes are only in the Pinata Party. These will be added to the Store, and some of them to Magnus' shop (at /market
).
Magestones & Repellers
This plugin has had a partial recode, but there are plans to completely replace it in the future with a modern system.
Here's some notable changes:
- Fixed a long standing issue where adjusting your Creature Repeller's radius would charge you again for an already purchased radius. For example if you purchased 50x50, reduced it to 30x30 then increased it back to your previously purchased size of 50x50, it would have charged you again.
- In addition to the above, it will now properly store the purchased radius per Creature Repeller when you pick them up, so you won't need to repurchase the increased sizes if you pick it up and move it.
- Both Magestones and Creature Repellers can only be picked up via the settings menu (right click the block).
- You can now use Silk Touch tools on Red/Brown Mushroom blocks to receive them (previously we blocked this due to plugin conflicts).
Rubies
We've replaced our Light Shards with a much more streamlined and much less confusing alternative: Rubies! These little gems are sought after by the likes of Magnus at the Market and is our alternative currency to the standard dollars.
Rubies are also semi-physical. So you will generally receive them as physical items, but then you can deposit and withdraw them from your bank!
Commands:
/rubies withdraw <amount>
/rubies deposit <amount | all>
Player Shops
- Shop signs will now show the enchantment name or potion effect name on the sign opposed to just "Enchanted Book" or "Potion". The downside is if there are multiple enchantments on a book, it will randomly pick one to display.
- Shops will automatically be purged if the owner is offline for more than 60 days.
Please note: Both of the above are subject to change depending on feedback.
mcMMO
mcMMO has had a few changes which is great to see!
- There will now be less bonus damage and RNG for skills to activate when spamming attacks to better align with Vanilla's system where spam clicking is less damage.
- There are now new end game subskills. These new skills offer Triple Drops to those end game players:
- Verdant Bounty
- Clean Cuts
- Mother Lode
- There are (finally) new Skills for Crossbows, Tridents, and Maces!
- Disabled automatically kicking players from a party after a certain amount of inactivity.
- Repair will now work on custom cosmetic items.
- Please remember, by design, there isn't a 100% chance you'll keep your enchantments on your item.
- Salvage will not work on custom cosmetic items.
Grief Prevention
- Instead of your claim extending to Bedrock automatically on creation, it will now only extend 20 blocks below the lowest point of your claim.
- Chest claims will automatically expire after 14 days, please be sure to claim your area!
- Your claims will expire if you're offline for more than 6 months, unless you have over 7,500 claim blocks.
In-game Wiki
I've almost finished creating an in-game wiki. This is a book menu that will act as small amounts of information on everything related to Survival. Larger topics will redirect you to our Guides on our website where things will be explained in-depth.
Store Sale
We're running a 25% off STOREWIDE sale to celebrate the new map!
Whether you can afford to support AusCraft through the store, or just by playing and voting, it all means so much and it keeps us running after... over 14 YEARS!
That's all for now, folks! Please remember to use /ticket
in-game if you run into any issues whilst playing.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all in-game very soon, and seeing what wonderful things you create and what new friendships are made this map. 💖
